How Our Fitness Age Calculator Works
The calculator follows the exact Nes et al. method (validated in large population studies):
- Estimate absolute VO2max (L/min) using 6 easy inputs
- Convert to relative VO2max (ml/kg/min)
- Compare to age- and gender-specific reference curves (50th percentile)
- Return the age at which your VO2max would be "average" โ that's your Fitness Age

Step 1 โ Absolute VO2max (L/min)
VO2max (L/min) = 3.542 โ (0.014 ร age) + (0.015 ร weight) โ (0.011 ร waist) + (0.009 ร height) โ (0.027 ร RHR) + (0.019 ร exercise frequency)
Step 2 โ Relative VO2max (ml/kg/min)
Relative VO2max = (VO2max L/min ร 1000) รท weight (kg)
