How the Bowling Score Calculator Works
How to use it
Enter each throw in order using:
- 0–9 for the number of pins knocked down
- X for a strike
- / for a spare
- The total score and 10-frame score sheet update after every ball.
- Strike and spare bonuses are calculated automatically once the required following rolls are entered.
- Only legal options stay available (for example, after knocking down 7 pins, you can only enter 0–2 or a spare).
- In the 10th frame, a third box appears after a strike or spare.
Extra controls
- Undo — removes the last throw
- New Game — resets everything
- Keyboard support: 0–9, X, /, Backspace, and N (new game)
How Bowling Scoring Works (Quick Guide)
- Strike (X) = 10 points + the next two rolls
- Spare (/) = 10 points + the next one roll
- Open frame = sum of the two throws in that frame
The maximum possible score is 300 (12 strikes in a row).
Example
Throws: X, X, X, 3, 2
Frame scores: 30 → 53 → 68 → 73
Total: 73
